Okazuya / Delicatessen Manager

RESPONSIBILITIES: Manages the operations of our Kaheka Okazuya / Delicatessen. This encompasses all sections – Sushi, Hot Lines, Bento, and our Wagyu Kushi concession outside. Supervises and directs the work of the dept. staff, which includes scheduling, providing on-the-job training, directing work, assigning tasks, communicating & enforcing rules/proper procedures, and ensuring they work safely, complying with required food handling and sanitation standards. Responsible for achieving the dept.’s Sales & Gross Profit goals and maintaining proper inventory levels in conjunction with Store Management and Product Strategy promotional & merchandising plans. Manages food cost and labor. Ensure that dept. supplies are properly & timely ordered, checked-in, and stored. Completes and turns in required reports and paperwork. Responsible for the proper housekeeping of the dept. equipment, shelves, refrigerated cases, Freezers, and floors. May be assigned other store related duties.
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of two (2) year experience as a Section Leader in a delicatessen or kitchen is preferred or equivalent supervising clerks, occasionally taking on the responsibility running the dept.
KNOWLEDGE: Operate Delicatessen kitchen equipment: Ranges and ovens and more in the production of the prepared foods as well as cash register.

  - Planning/Organizing – Prioritizes/ plans work activities; Uses time efficiently; Able to meet and manage deadlines; handles multiple tasks.

  - Communicate effectively in English (oral and written) – maintains good communication

  - High degree of initiative with good judgment and decision-making skills

  - Good numeric skills: Add, subtract, multiply and divide with whole numbers, fractions, decimals, and percent.

  - Exerts positive influence among employees in the department


  - Lift 50 lbs. and Push/pull 200 lbs. using pallet jacks and carts with medium effor

  - Work without sitting for two (2) to three (3) hours at a time.

  - Constant use of hands and arms.

  - Moderate amounts of bending, stooping, squatting, climbing and reaching above shoulders.

  - Some exposure to warm and cold temperatures.

SCHEDULE: Available to work any day and any time during operating hours of the store.
COMPENSATION: Hourly Wage or Monthly Salary (To be discussed).
